Our communities and businesses are facing more challenges than ever in managing sustainability and a healthy environment. Ecosystem Informatics Inc.™ (ESI) was started to fill a need for increased clarity and improve the understanding of environmental conditions in our local cities. ESI’s integrated monitoring, analytics and reporting systems were designed to deliver actionable information for governments, industries, researchers and advocacy groups to move their environmental and sustainability goals forward successfully.
The passion and the expertise of ESI’s founders in environmental monitoring and pollution mitigation started years ago. It was triggered by the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO)’s call to action on accurate pollution monitoring on Ontario highways. As a result, in 2017, a research collaboration project took place at Sheridan College sponsored by the MTO and led by Dr. Ali (ESI’s CEO).
From testing our first prototype, we’ve made continuous and incremental improvements on various aspects of the hardware like form factor, stability and reliability. We started building capabilities on the software and data analytics aspects to lay the foundation for an end-to-end system.
In the present day, we have developed an innovative, first in its class technology that can accurately measure pollution on the go and, by using Artificial Intelligence based algorithms, correct any variations due to changes in speed. We have complemented this technology with several data modelling and reporting tools to create a complete package that suits the needs of our customers.

In September 2015, 193 countries came together and agreed to take on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) – a framework of 17 goals aimed at reducing poverty, protecting our planet and ensuring prosperity for all.
